Shropshire and Telford Trades Union Council

The Government is planning to spend £3 billion less on our children’s education.

98% of schools will be worse off.

In Shropshire £13.4 million less per year will be spent on education - £394 per pupil on average.

In Telford and Wrekin £4 million less - £167 per pupil.

This is the equivalent of 360 teachers in Shropshire and 107 teachers in Telford and Wrekin.

There will certainly be far fewer teachers, far fewer teaching assistants and

far fewer education workers to support our children.

Class sizes will get bigger.

There will be less support for children with special needs.

There will be cuts to music and other extra-curricular activities.

Support services such as educational psychologists will be cut.

The school environment will be less safe.
